South Wales Kennel Association 2008 Critique

I think that the quality of the dogs has improved greatly but I was sorry to see so many light eyes, big ears & poor feet.

PD (3) A. JD (4,1) 1 Hawkins’ Kwaricot Archimago, very nice balanced young dog, plenty of substance, good topline & depth of brisket, good length, masculine head, good neck & front, low hocks, good tail & moved well; 2 Edwards’ Dark and Discreet from Brackenland, promising dog, tall & rangy & needs to tighten up. Good feet. Preferred bend of stifle & low hocks of 1; 3 Meakes & Moon’s Claonaiglen Gelly at Cadmore.

PGD (13,4) 1 Barter’s Brutus Fraxinus of Ehlaradawn, extremely handsome young dog, very nice topline, good head carriage, masculine expression, plenty of substance, good front, good feet & moved with drive, good width over loin, good hindquarters & second thigh. CC; 2 Helps’ Greyfriars Gille of Beardswood, good dog, lovely head, dark eye, good head carriage, deep brisket, good droop over loin. Not such good bend of stifle as 1; 3 Peach’s Readwald Thor to Kilbourne.

LD (10,1) 1 Rhodes & Morton’s Gentom Peacemaker, beautiful balanced well boned dog, good head & dark eye, good shoulder, great depth, good width across loin, good sweep from hip to hock, good tail & correct coat, moved well. RCC; 2 Finnett & Heathcote’s Hyndsight Keep The Faith, nice dog, good topline, good shoulder, nice coat & moved with drive. Shorter coupled than 1 & not such a good bend of stifle; 3 Llewellyn’s Kilbourne Macallan at Matahari.

OD (6,2) 1 Peach’s Ch Greyflax The Mighty Quin to Kilbourne, lovely dark coated upstanding dog, plenty of substance, nice head, very good front, good length & good sweep over loin, moved well; 2 Help’s Beardswood Marmion, nice balanced dog, lighter grey, good ears, good head carriage & topline, good quarters, good sweep from hip to hock, moved well; 3 Wiggan’s Killoeter Grilse.

PB (4,3) 1 Grimshaw’s Jamalison Winter Gayle, stood alone, lovely 7 month, dark coated, well balanced, beautiful shape, plenty of bone, feminine head & expression, dark eye, correct length, good topline & low hocks, moved very well, one to watch. BP.

JB (3,1) 1 Peach’s Witch Way to Kilbourne, dark elegant bitch, good length & good substance, feminine head & expression, good front & topline, good hindquarters, good width over loin, good feet, low hocks & moved very nicely; 2 Morgan’s Ladygrove Calamity Jane at Amiro, very nice outline, feminine head & expression, good hindquarters, low hocks. Preferred length of 1 & the movement.

PGB (15,4) 1 Owen & Brodie’s Marandike Ebony’s Choice to Wolfscastle, beautiful shapely bitch, well boned, lovely ehad & feminine expression, lovely dark eyes, neat ears, correct topline, good depth & length, very good hindquarters, good feet, nice dark coat, moved with drive. CC & BOB; 2 Janson’s Nixophel Crystal Amethyst, very nice bitch, good head & expression, good topline & lovely sweep from hip to hock, moved well. Not so deep as 1 & finer boned; 3 Bailey’s Greyflax Milly Molly Mandy.

LB (12,4) 1 Williams’ Kilbourne Iduna at Inverclyde, lovely mature, medium grey bitch, good bone, lovely length, good topline, pretty head & expression, good hindquarters, good thick tail, good width over loin, moved very soundly; 2 Finnett & Heathcote’s Hyndsight A Box Of Dreams, lovely dark bitch, good topline, nice head & expression, nice ears, good feet. Not quite the length of 1 nor such good bend of stifle; 3 Janson’s Lady Of The Lake to Nixophel.

OB (6,2) 1 Hird’s CH Claonaiglen Albyn at Cloweswood, beautiful mature bitch, lovely length & topline, good droop over hindquarters, good front, good angulation, pretty head & expression, moved well. RCC. Winner of RCC stakes; 2 Peach’s Pinglehol Ruby to Kilbourne, lovely dark well coated bitch, very good head carriage, good topline, deep brisket, good quarters, plenty of substance. Preferred length of 1; 3 Bailey’s Ch Greyflax Waterloo Sunset.
